Summary

The first full week of July 2025 was hot, unsettled, and somewhat stormy.  The average temperature for the week was 88.3 degrees, which is one of the top three warmest weeks to date at Greg’s Weather Center in South Plainfield, NJ.  There were three days of 90° weather with the highest temperature of 94 on Wednesday, July 8th.

While there wasn’t a lot of rain in total during the week, there were four consecutive days of measurable rainfall at GWC.  The first of those four straight days was perhaps the stormiest of the group.  On Tuesday, July 7th, a late morning storm produced almost a quarter of an inch of rain in a very short time.  The peak rainfall rate of the month to date occurred during this downpour at 10:10 AM.

Total rainfall for the week was just over half of an inch, which brings the total rainfall for the month to over two inches.  Almost as much rainfall has fallen in the first 12 days of July 2025 than in all of June 2025.  Meanwhile, the number of 80° days at GWC increased to 39, and the number of 90° days has grown to double digits at 11.

The barometer didn’t fluctuate too wildly during the week.  After peaking on the first day of the period, the pressure remained fairly stable until July 10th, when it bottomed out at 29.65 inches.  The barometer would rebound to nearly equal the week’s peak by finishing at 30.10 inches on Saturday, July 12th.
