Summary
The week leading up to Easter 2025 began turbulently but eventually gave way to dry conditions and much warmer temperatures. This week had some similarities with the last full week of March 2025. There was some rain early on in the week followed by a mostly dry stretch of weather. However, this particular week ended with a threat of showers and storms that didn’t materialize.
Tuesday, April 15th was the stormiest day of the period with a marginal risk for severe weather emerging for Northwest Jersey. Storms came in from Northeastern Pennsylvania with winds over 60 miles per hour and pea size to moth-ball size hail in Sussex and Morris counties. Thankfully, none of these storms moved through GWC. The total rainfall for the week was only 0.15 of an inch.
There was a huge warm-up later in the week thanks to a passage of a warm front on Friday, April 18th. The following day, Saturday, April 19th, was the warmest day to date in 2025 with a high of 85°. Saturday was the second 80-degree day of the year. Much of the northern half of the Garden State was under a marginal risk for severe weather, but the storms stayed north of GWC.
