Summary
The fourth full week of June 2025 was the warmest and one of the driest to date this year at Greg’s Weather Center. There were six days of at least 80° weather. The average high temperature for the week was just shy of 89° while the average low was just below 70. Included in this warm stretch was the first heat wave of the year and the first 100° day at GWC in nearly 13 years.
There were only two days of measurable rainfall that totaled 0.08 of an inch for the entire week. Only one week, the period from April 27th to May 3rd, 2025, had fewer days with measurable rainfall, but there was still more rain that week. This week was the driest of the year to date in terms of total rainfall.
For the third straight week, there was a day with a diurnal range of temperature of just four degrees. June 27th had the lowest maximum temperature of just 68° after a low of only 64 earlier in the day. Similar to the previous week, there wasn’t much tumult with the barometer until the very end of the week. Wild swings in pressure began to occur late on June 25th and lasted for almost 50 hours.
The big story of the week was the heat and lack of rain. There were no storms. The number of 80° days for the year grew to 25 while the number of 90° days quadrupled. The heatwave peaked on June 24th with a high of 100°. The heat index topped out at 116°. However, the highest heat index occurred the day before, on June 23rd, at 120°. The average high during the three-day heat onslaught was 99°.
